In honor of Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month, CF communities around the world will be joining forces to increase the profile of the disease and raise money for vital research into better treatments and therapies, with the hope of finding a cure.
Charities and non-profit organizations across the globe including the Boomer Esiason Foundation, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Trust UK, and Cystic Fibrosis Canada will be hosting events throughout the month. They’ll be asking participants to post their photos and stories on their social media accounts using the hashtag #CFAwarenessMonth.
From fun walks to jump-a-thons, the CF community will be working to shed more light on this chronic disease and to educate the public about what life is like for the 70,000 people who have cystic fibrosis around the world.
You can help by sharing facts on social media about living with CF, participating in events or hosting your own, becoming an advocate for cystic fibrosis, or by simply donating to one of the many cystic fibrosis charities.
Over the past three decades, medical advancements have doubled the life expectancy for someone with cystic fibrosis, but it’s not enough. The CF community wants better treatments, an even longer life expectancy and more than anything, a cure, so this disease can become a thing of the past.
