Claire explains that after being in a coma for a few weeks when she was 13, she realized her life with cystic fibrosis would never be normal but it could still be wonderful and enjoyable. She also decided that she wanted to help others, so set up the Claire’s Place Foundation which aims to support children living with cystic fibrosis as well as help their parents with the financial burden of the disease.

When Claire was first diagnosed with cystic fibrosis as a baby, her parents were told that it was unlikely she would live past the age of 10. This was later revised to her late teens, then her twenties, and she realized that she had a life to go out and live.

Claire now lives an independent life, has an apartment in Venice and travels the world talking about how to live the best possible life with cystic fibrosis.

    Hi Claire,
I have watched your videos and very much appreciate your candid and honest approach to being ill and Educating others on so many topics.

I am a documentary film maker in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada currently working on a project on Medical Assistance in Dying, (MAID). In 2016 Canada passed a new law making it legal for anyone over 18 years of age to access this service, along with meeting certain criteria. Discussion is now opening up to possibly allowing mature minded youth this service.

Might you be interested in participating in this documentary and voicing your opinion on the topic of terminally I’ll youth having or not having this option available.

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.
