Monday Shoutout: CF Stinks

Shoutout to CF Stinks!

Dana is the face behind @cfstinks blog. She was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was one year old, and her poor parents were told the life expectancy of CF patients was only 9 years. So, they held their breath for the first 9 years of her life and then realized she wasn’t going anywhere! Dana was diganosed with mutations DF508/621+1G-T and began taking Trikafta in December 2019. Today, she celebrates being happily married for more than 10 years.

To Dana, having CF is not a curse of death or something to feel sorry about. It’s life and she wants to make the best out of it.

We love Dana’s spirit! You can find CF Stinks’ blog here.

  1. Hurrah for Dana! So happy for her.
Just think that a few years ago nobody knew that if you had a different mutation than DF508 you could expect to live longer.
My daughter had DF508 along with A455E. She was diagnosed at the age of 19 and lived till the age of 43 two years after receiving a two-lobe transplant.
So excited to see all the new medications that allow living longer with the disease, though still no cure. I’m sure it’s in the pipeline some day.
