  Transplant and CF

  My sister Alyssa had two double lung transplants. Though it gave her an extra five years of life, those five years were still filled with what amounted to a secondary chronic disease.

  1. If you’ve gotten a transplant, do you feel that you were prepared for what came afterward? Why or why not?
  2. If you’re listed now or will be soon for a transplant, do you feel prepared? What are some things you want to know about what life is like after a transplant?
  3. If you’re considered “healthy” right now (a vague word in the community, but I guess defined here as not in immediate need of a transplant), would you unequivocally get one if you needed one? Why or why not?
