Shout Out to Cripple Media!
Founded in 2018 by 15-year-old Emily Flores, @cripple.media is the first-ever media company run by and for young disabled people, shifting the lens through which disabled people are viewed. They do this by telling and reporting stories that are about and relevant to young people with disabilities. By centering young people with disabilities, they aim to disrupt and correct the inaccurate messages propagated by well-intentioned but misguided mainstream media, doctors, and researchers about what it means to be young and disabled. ⠀
At its heart, Cripple Media strives to train and center young disabled media professionals to lead conversations in mainstream media — and they believe young disabled creatives deserve to be paid. With that said, Cripple is entirely self-funded, and it is their intention to continue on and expand for seasons to come. ⠀
We’re big fans of Crippled Media and its vision for the next generation of media professionals with disabilities! Click here to visit their website.⠀
