AbbVie Cystic Fibrosis Scholarship 2014 Accepting Applicants Until June 9, 2014

Since its founding a little over two decades ago, the AbbVie Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Scholarship has been steadfast in its mission to recognize and foster the scholastic capabilities and potential of students afflicted with CF, awarding over $2.4 million worth of scholarships.

Now on its 22nd year, the biopharmaceutical-backed scholarship recently recognized 40 remarkable students with this condition who have become positive examples within their respective communities in terms of exemplary academic performance, creativity and socio-civic service and awareness. The students recognized this year will be vying with one another through garnering public votes for the Thriving Student Scholarship awards that are each worth $22,000.

AbbVie does not require its scholarship applicants to have any former, present, nor future encounters with their products, and according to a statement given by the company Vice President of Endocrinology, Metabolic, GI Care and Institutional Accounts, Jim Hynd, the company sees it as an honor to have the opportunity to help young adults with CF pursue a higher education. He said that these individuals are indeed role models and serve as inspirations to others living with the disease to not give up on their own ambitions.
