If you are one of the 15,000 adults aged 18 or older living with cystic fibrosis (CF) in the United States, we might have a big announcement for you.
AbbVie, a global, research-based biopharmaceutical company formed in 2013 following separation from Abbott Laboratories, recently announced that undergraduate and graduate students living with CF can apply for the 2016 AbbVie CF Scholarship, for the chance to be awarded $3,000 for use toward education-related expenses.
24 years ago, the AbbVie CF Scholarship was born in order to help the many families touched with CF with their financial burdens and to acknowledge the achievements of students with CF.
Since then, the scholarship program has awarded more than $2.6 million in scholarships.
Now, The AbbVie CF Scholarship is accepting applications from students with cystic fibrosis for 2016-2017 academic school year
This scholarship will recognize 40 outstanding students with cystic fibrosis (CF) for academic excellence, creativity, and community service.
Applications will be accepted between now and May 27, 2016, and are available online.
“The education I received empowered me to find my voice as a patient advocate, which has been critical for the growth of my non-profit CF foundation, Emily’s Entourage, which has raised nearly $2 million in four years to accelerate research for new treatments and a cure for rare nonsense mutations of CF,” stated Emily Kramer-Golinkoff, an AbbVie CF Scholarship former recipient.
