Day 9 of #31DaysOfCF: Let the Long-term Planning Begin
Jenny Humphries has always been a planner. She even had a plan growing up: college, hopefully motherhood, and after that it got a bit nebulous, as she believed she had an early expiration date. In her 20s, that “median life expectancy” started to loom large.
As any good planner would do, Jenny began watching videos and reading stories about people getting lung transplants and then, in 2011 she heard about some new medicines: CFTR modulators. Suddenly growing old became more of a reality than it had ever been before.
Jenny started her first modulator in 2015, although it didn’t do much. Soon she began Trikafta, a treatment that combines three CFTR modulators.
Now, 2.5 years later, Jenny feels good. And she’s gone back to planning for the future.
Jenny, you are the definition of resilience!
Now back to our CF Community: Have you tried any CFTR modulators? Have they helped you?
