• CF and positive reinforcement

In her recent column, Kristin Entler compared the experience of a friend’s new doctor with that of her own. Her friend’s new doctor uses positive reinforcements in the form of a goodie bag, where they can select an item upon leaving. Entler reflects on how similar experiences were beneficial as a child and how something small like this reinforcement could be a positive experience for adults.

Does your clinic partake in positive reinforcement, and if so, how? What’s your ideal positive reinforcement?

Positive reinforcement is simple for me – it comes in the form of feedback, words, acknowledgement, and praise for keeping at it and doing the right thing. While not tangible, powerful words can stick in your memory and keep you motivated for quite some time (and some doctor’s appointments later!)

Definitely! And great doctor appointments never hurt, either.
