I think recognizing your mental health as a part of your physical health is crucial. The trick is figuring out what approach works best for you.

Some people do well without any mental health specific interventions. Whereas other people do well with therapy. And others do well with anti-depressants. And some people need several outlets.

For me I need antidepressants and therapy. It took me years to find an antidepressant that made me feel normal (I take Tritellix and if you’re struggling to find one that works for you, I would recommend). It also took me a really long time and a lot of therapists to find someone who I felt comfortable with and who reciprocated what I needed, especially because I don’t think many people know how to treat people with chronic health problems.

What about you? How does you mental health get treated?
