CF Canada Honors thyssenkrupp Elevator Canada with National Champion Award
After raising more than $268,828 ($360,000 Canadian dollars) since 2017 for Cystic Fibrosis Canada, thyssenkrupp Elevator Canada received the nonprofit’s 2019 National Champion Award.
The award recognizes companies, service groups, and other entities that have a presence in at least three regions of Canada and have provided exceptional leadership or funding support for CF Canada nationally.
“The fight to end CF [cystic fibrosis] is one that we are proud to be fighting alongside so many great individuals and organizations like Cystic Fibrosis Canada,” Blaine Coupal, CEO of thyssenkrupp Elevator Canada, said in a press release. “We are deeply humbled and grateful to receive this honor as it recognizes the incredible efforts of our entire organization throughout Canada.”
Last year, the vertical transportation systems company raised $84,620 ($113,322 Canadian) for CF Canada, marking the third consecutive year it had surpassed $74,670 ($100,000 Canadian).
In 2017, thyssenkrupp Elevator Canada chose CF Canada as the nonprofit it wanted to support, and set a first-year fundraising goal of $14,930 ($20,000 Canadian). As it turned out, the company collected $78,410 ($105,000 Canadian).
“I’d like to extend my thanks and immense gratitude to everyone at thyssenkrupp Elevator Canada and their community. Their continued hard work and dedication is helping Canadians with CF live longer and healthier lives,” said Kelly Grover, president and CEO, CF Canada.
“With the generosity of donors and partners, like thyssenkrupp Elevator Canada, Cystic Fibrosis Canada is able to push forward to advance research and care, and to provide access to life-changing CF medications. Together, we’re changing lives,” Grover said.
It is estimated that one in every 3,600 children born in Canada have CF. This statistic includes Meaghan Addante, thyssenkrupp Elevator Canada’s events coordinator, who was diagnosed with CF at 7 months old.
As the company’s Cystic Fibrosis Ambassador, Addante has helped organize many of thyssenkrupp Elevator Canada’s fundraising efforts, including bowling events, bake sales, raffles, art contests, and curling tournaments.
“Meaghan is the embodiment of strength and courage and is truly an inspiration to anyone that is lucky enough to know her,” Coupal said.
Since 1960, CF Canada has invested more than $261 million in CF research, care, and advocacy. According to the organization, it invests more funding in scientific studies and patient care than any other non-governmental entity in Canada.
