CF Foundation Bolstered by Support from Harvard Assets, Jeb Bush

Harvard Assets, a Pennsylvania-based provider of bullion and investment-grade diamond, recently renewed its support to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) and its mission of supporting the development of new drugs to fight cystic fibrosis (CF), improving the quality of life for those with the disease, and ultimately finding a cure.

John Tucker, Harvard Assets’ logistical engineer, attended the 20th anniversary of the Jeb Bush Classic at the 65 Roses Gala, held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Nov. 20 in support of the cause, according to a press release. Both events were dedicated to fighting cystic fibrosis (CF), and Mr. Bush is a long-time support of the CFF and its work. 

According to the Foundation, CFF is a leader in the search for a cure for CF worldwide, funding more research than any other organization. Projects supported by the CFF, a nonprofit and donor-support organization, include the five U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved therapies that are now part of regular treatment regimens for many CF patients. In addition, the foundation funds and accredits a national care center network that has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a model for chronic disease care. The Foundation notes that when it was founded in 1955, children with CF rarely lived long enough to attend elementary school. Now, due largely to CFF’s aggressive investments in research and comprehensive care, these children can expect to live at least into their 30s and 40s.

The organization is also noted for it efficient organization, and is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance.

“Until we end this disease, our team will work tirelessly to extend and enhance life for those with cystic fibrosis by functioning as: research pioneers, blazing new trails in drug development; fund-raisers, securing the money needed to support the fight against CF; advocates, keeping CF a top priority in government, industry and research; stewards, using your donations to help fuel the creation of new drugs; caregivers, linking patients and families to specialized CF care; and helping hands, offering support, information and resources,” says the CFF in the release.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation also organizes events to raise both research money and disease awareness about the disease. Among the more recent of these was the 2015 Ultimate Golf Experience, which ran over four days in October, and raised $630,000.
