FiltersFast.com logoLast Saturday, April 26th, a team of hikers called Team FiltersFast.com, along with team leader and company President Ray Scardigno, took part in the Cystic Fibrosis Xtreme Hike for a Cure where they had to trek more than 30 miles in a single day along the popular Appalachian Trail.

Over the last 2 months, clients at FiltersFast.com were encouraged to donate $1.00 upon checkout for the cystic fibrosis fundraising effort. To elicit stronger customer involvement, the company offered to match up with every donated dollar, up to an amount of $7,500. This led to an impressive total of $23,408 in donations.

Beginning 5 years ago, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) has effectively spearheaded nationwide fundraising for cystic fibrosis (CF) through the Cystic Fibrosis Xtreme Hike. This series of regional events aim to promote awareness of this disease and obtain funding for research and development. Prior to the event, the participants are strongly encouraged to condition themselves for the hike, as they would be subjected to travelling across rough terrain during unfriendly conditions. The participants are up to the challenge, however, as they believe in the cause of the event. Scardigno was quoted in saying, “It is an amazing group of people that are up to the challenge of the hike as well as raising money to help find a cure for CF.”

It is estimated that about 70,000 people globally struggle with CF. Thanks to fundraising efforts and donations like the $23,000 contributed by Team FiltersFast.com, the CFF can carry on with its research and development goals for more clinical trials, pharmaceutical solutions, and innovative treatment modalities against the disease.
