Young Designer Uses Fashion to Raise Money, Awareness for Cystic Fibrosis
Grace Rose, a 15-year-old designer who was born with cystic fibrosis (CF), will host the 15th Annual Grace Rose for Cystic Fibrosis Fashion Show Fundraiser on Aug. 18 in Los Angeles to raise funds and awareness about the disease, according to a press release.
Taking place at the corporate headquarters of shoe company TOMS, the fashion show will present the new collection from Grace’s own clothing line, Rosie G, styled with shoes from the Venice Collection by TOMS. Young women will model the collection, including actresses Ava Kolker, Jillian Shea Spaeder, Laya DeLeon Hayes, Talitha Bateman, Grace Wethor, and Indiana Massara.
Television personality Kit Hoover from Access Hollywood will serve as emcee for the event. Performers include DJ Micah Paul, Trinity Rose, Jaheem Toombs, Bryce Xavier, Gabe de Guzman, and Sheaden Gariel.
Rosie G clothing will be available for purchase, and the event will also feature an art and silent auction, as well as a braid bar by Eden Sassoon and manicures by Nail & Bone. Food and drink will be provided by Honest Tea, Chef Kai Kani, Organic Candy Factory and Nocking Point Wines.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Grace Rose Foundation, Rose’s nonprofit. Ticket prices range from $25 for children to $200 for a VIP pass. Tickets can be purchased here.
The Grace Rose Foundation collaborates with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in a shared mission of finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.
Rose began advocating as soon as she could talk. Her first annual fashion show fundraiser took place when she was just a year old. At 2 years old, she designed her first dress, and when she was 10, she launched her clothing line to raise money and bring awareness for CF.
Rosie G clothes are sold at Nordstrom, Denny’s, Lesters, and boutiques around the country.
Her advocacy has helped raise more than $300,000 for cystic fibrosis research through these fashion show events. She also hosts the live auction for the California Winemasters, the largest cystic fibrosis charity event in California, for which she is the CF ambassador. The event raises more than $1 million each year to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Rose is treated at the Children’s Hospital LA and helps the hospital raise money during their annual Make March Matter campaign. She is the only patient and corporate sponsor, speaking at conventions and hosting fashion shows.
