Cystic Fibrosis Trust’s ‘Ask a Dad’ Series Tackles Fertility and Starting a Family

The U.K. charity, Cystic Fibrosis Trust has launched the “Ask a Dad” video series, which tackles the subject of fertility and starting a family when you have CF. Michael and Amy discuss their own personal journey and the complications they faced due to Michael’s cystic fibrosis.

In the first video, Michael talks about his own fertility treatment and how most men with cystic fibrosis will need fertility treatment if they want to have children.

In this second video, Michael’s wife, Amy, shares that their treatment took two years and talks about the emotional struggle fertility treatment places on a couple.

Amy had to undergo genetic testing to see if she was also a carrier of cystic fibrosis before they started their IVF process, as they explain in the third video.

The couple talks about how long it took them to get to the treatment stage of IVF with the British national health service in this video.

In this video, Amy talks about IVF treatment, how long the process took and how the hormone drugs affected her both emotionally and physically.

Finally, Michael discusses the joys of fatherhood and also the added stress that being a dad with cystic fibrosis brings in this last video.
