What’s it like taking care of someone who’s had a lung transplant? In this video from Gifted Life, 26-year-old Lauren and her mom explain what it’s like looking after someone who has a chronic lung condition and the differences between pre- and post-transplant caregiving.

The symptoms of cystic fibrosis will vary from patient to patient, but there are commonalities in the way that CF affects the body. Learn more about them here.

The two talk about how their roles changed following Lauren’s lung transplant as she gained independence and was less reliant on her mother for everything, allowing her mom to return to work and Lauren to move out of the family home. Although Lauren needs to take medication for her lung transplant, she no longer needs daily physio and nebulizers.

Some patients suffering with CF are celebrities or became celebrities due to their fight against the disease. Read more about their stories.
