• Going back to school with CF

It’s September! As the Fall begins, children and teens go back to school. It’s not easy to balance homework and health, but many get it done with the help of their family.

Parents, what are some tips you have to help other parents prepare their kids with CF for school? What are some things to avoid with the school year underway?

As a previous school director, health and safety was always my utmost priority. On top of trying to maintain the cleanest environment possible, it was important to have quality procedures and tools in place to do so, and to be open and communicative with any parents of students in my facility about any concerns they may have regarding accommodations or needs. Additionally, it was incredibly important to me to foster communication with families in a reciprocal way, so they would be transparent with me regarding any bugs or illnesses that could affect the other students and staff members within the facility. It isn’t easy!

I can imagine! Did parents ever give you any pushback?
