Importance of nurses in the CF community

In my experiences as a CF caregiver, I have come across a great deal of wonderful nurses and nurse practitioners – as well as wonderful physical therapists, social workers, and physicians. However, there is one standout professional that I can recall – a social worker who went the extra mile for my spouse while hospitalized – checking in frequently, providing words of comfort and advice, and even running up and downstairs the floors of a (very large) NYC hospital to retrieve Uber Eats deliveries for my spouse when needed. These professionals truly are the backbone of the medical world, who keep the machine running without a hitch.
