Only 13-years-old, Bree Labiak is taking the surfing world by storm as one of South Carolina’s best female surfers. Recently, the cystic fibrosis patient took second place as the runner-up in the Governor’s Cup of Surfing state championship.

Healing in the Surf is a story about Travis Suit and his daughter Piper and the incredible healing power of Mother Ocean on those living with cystic fibrosis. Watch and listen here. 

The fact that she is decade younger than most other competitors is amazing in itself, but what elevates Bree’s win to super status the way she competes in the face of cystic fibrosis. Bree believes that surfing helps her cystic fibrosis. She claims that the sea air and salt water help open up her lungs and allow her to breathe better.

According to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, surfing may extend the lives of people with from cystic fibrosis. It’s in the water. Find out more here.
