CARSTAR Automotive Canada Inc. is encouraging Canadians to promote CARSTAR’s Great Strides™ Walk for Cystic Fibrosis Canada through the social media hashtag #AWorldWithoutCF throughout the month of May. The goal is to raise funds to support research and treatments to address cystic fibrosis (CF). CARSTAR is celebrating its first anniversary as sponsor of the event.
For each #AWorldWithoutCF tweet, retweet and share on both Twitter and Facebook made between May 1 to May 31 by Canadians CARSTAR is donating $5.00 to the CARSTAR’s Great Strides™ Walk for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. The company will pledge support up to $100,000.
As part of the advocacy and fundraising challenge, CARSTAR is also asking Canadians to talk about their experiences living with the disease, or about people they know who have CF and are rising above the challenges that the disease poses. Patients with Cystic Fibrosis have limited breathing abilities, which anyone without the disease can experience themselves through the 60-second CARSTAR Straw Challenge.
The CARSTAR Straw Challenge consists of placing a straw in the mouth for 60 seconds while walking or doing other moderate physical activity and experiencing the difficulty of breathing through such a narrow air passage. CARSTAR will donate $5.00 for each Walk for Straw Challenges uploaded and shared on social media using the hashtag #AWorldWithoutCF.
CARSTAR’s Great Strides™ Walk for Cystic Fibrosis Canada is a national event to raise funds to support Cystic Fibrosis’ research, advocacy and care. The initiative’s goal is to help Canadians suffering with cystic fibrosis to live healthier and longer lives.
CARSTAR has been a proud supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Canada since the granddaughter of a franchise partner was diagnosed with the disease. Victoria’s story inspired the first CF firm’s event in 2000 and the company has now raised over $2.3 million to support CF research and Victoria lives now a positive life.
“Our commitment to Cystic Fibrosis Canada runs deep within the CARSTAR organization and after 15-years, we are more inspired than ever to get Canadians involved in our efforts to walk towards a world without cystic fibrosis. Take the CARSTAR Straw Challenge, simply tweet or share our message, or come walk with us on May 31st,” said Lisa Mercanti-Ladd, the CARSTAR Canada’s representative.
