Young Boy Uses Music to Improve His Health With Cystic Fibrosis
Twelve-year-old Tom Skeldon from Plymouth, England, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) as a baby but he has not let his illness get in the way of enjoying his life to the fullest.
Tom first picked up a guitar at the tender age of 3 and taught himself how to play by watching YouTube videos. His talent grew and according to a report in the Plymouth Herald, he went on to win a Battle of the Bands event hosted by the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in 2016.
Playing the guitar and singing his favorite Ed Sheeran songs have helped Tom cope with the demands of living with cystic fibrosis. He also feels that singing helps to improve his lung function and keeps him well. Tom recently played a headline gig for the U.K.-based charity and has more performances planned for the future.
