American Airlines Event Raises $1.2M for CF Foundation
In 37 years the event has raised more than $44 million supporting research to find a cure for CF.
“For nearly 40 years, American Airlines has led the way as one of our top national corporate champions, by hosting and sponsoring the Celebrity Ski event,” Patrick Feeley, chief development officer at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, said in a press release.
“We are deeply grateful for the ongoing commitment shown by all involved sponsors, celebrities and attendees of American Airlines Celebrity Ski, who so generously support our mission to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis,” he added.
The Celebrity Ski event took place last weekend in Beaver Creek, Colorado. In 2021 the event was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Although we had to shift to host the event virtually last year, American’s commitment was reaffirmed this year as the team, customers and amazing sponsors showed up to continue supporting the foundation’s critically important treatment and research,” said Alison Taylor, chief customer officer at American Airlines.
The occasion was celebrated with programming marked by special events that included a performance by Warner Records recording artist MAX, and a fitness class led by Louis Van Amstel, a three-time world dance champion.
“It may be cold in Colorado this weekend, but our hearts are incredibly warm. Every year for the last 37 years, our team members and partners have rallied together to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It’s a cause that is very important to us,” said Taylor.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is one of American Airlines’ partners in its initiative to support health and wellness. As part of the company’s program — “Let Good Take Flight” — American Airlines seeks to raise awareness and funds to foster the development of new treatments for CF, cancer, and other life-threatening diseases. Other partners of this initiative include the Make-A-Wish foundation, the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Stand Up To Cancer.
