For the longest time I negated that I had any inkling of depression and once I did accept I have depression — I definitely did not want to correlate it to CF. I found so much shame and weakness in that idea, perhaps perpetuated by this idea that “I have CF and CF doesn’t have me.”

Therapy helped me unravel one my greatest revelations: it’s possible that the thing that brings me so much pain, can also catalyze my greatest joys. And, that meant that I had to process the sadness, disappointment, and the trauma CF brings. Once I started reclaiming my emotions, things got easier. And, once I came to a conclusion that CF intrinsically has me, I could start tumbling forward, in a healthy manner. However, that’s MY coping mechanism, so I guess my question for y’all is:

      1. If you deal with depression and CF, how do you approach it?
      2. What’s something you’d tell your younger self?
