Hospital experiences, part 1
I’ve been very fortunate to have had only a few hospitalizations in my life, so I’ve not really had many bad experiences. One of the few experiences I had was when my doctor was out of town for two days and an infectious disease doctor was covering. My vein had blown when administering Vancomycin (extraordinarily painful), and he was wanting to try to tap another peripheral line. I wanted to wait until I could get a PICC. It wasn’t a big dispute, but I was certainly not comfortable.
1. What are some bad or frightening experiences you’ve had while “in the joint?”
2. In cases like this, what do you wish your doctors, nurses, etc understood about your position?
