For the second consecutive year, Owl Cyber Defense, a provider of network cybersecurity solutions, will be a presenting sponsor in the 22nd annual Swing for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Charity Golf Classic — a tournament held to help raise awareness and funds for CF.

The event is set to take place at the Breakfast Hill Golf Club in Greenland, New Hampshire, on Oct. 3. Although the golf portion of the event is no longer open for registration, those interested can still participate in the online silent auction.

Swing for CF Charity Golf Classic is put on by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) and hosted by the family of Jason Sweeney, from the global strategy lead data protection solutions division of Dell Technologies. To date, $18,270 has been raised of their $73,000 goal.

“It takes a lot of support to find a cure for CF,” Sweeney said in a press release. “It takes companies like Owl and the people who work there to partner with Swing for CF and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Our family is so grateful to have the Owl team as the presenting sponsor for Swing for CF.”

CF is caused by mutations in the CFTR gene. Although there are many types of CFTR mutations, all result in the excessive production of mucus which can accumulate and damage the lungs, pancreas, and other organs.

CFF is a donor-supported nonprofit organization established to raise money for research to discover a cure for CF. In 2019, the organization launched a $500-million initiative, called Path to a Cure, to support the development of therapies for CF. Donations can be made on the foundation’s website.

The golf tournament will have a shotgun start and will be played in scramble format. Prizes will be given to the top three teams, and there will be various contests throughout the course. Breakfast Hill Golf Course is set on a 250-year-old New Hampshire farm, stretching across 170 acres.

“I am looking forward to a great day of golf with family and friends at the Swing for CF Golf Classic,” said John McKeon, partner development manager at Owl Cyber Defense, whose clients include military, intelligence, and critical infrastructure organizations. “This event helps fund important research and investments toward ground-breaking new treatments for CF patients, and Owl is honored to play a role in giving back to the community in the fight against CF.”
