‘Star Wars’ Fans Attempt to Break World Record for Cystic Fibrosis

Some Star Wars fans in Kansas City had the time of their lives this month.

As part of Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month, thousands of movie buffs joined together to try and break the Guinness World Record for the biggest lightsaber battle.

According to a report on kansascity.com, Star Wars aficionados brandished their best lightsabers on May 6 in an attempt to break the current world record. They dubbed the event the “Battle4KC” with all proceeds benefitting the Children’s Mercy Cystic Fibrosis Endocrine Clinic in Kansas City.

Sadly, the event didn’t manage to break the current world record, which stands at 3,500 particpants, but a very impressive 2,840 people attended. Everyone had a fantastic time, and managed to raise awareness and money for cystic fibrosis. You can learn more about the event on the organizers’ Facebook page.
