Happy 2024!
Check out this column by Lara Govendo. Lara writes about the assumptions people make about her as someone with CF. She says that while she feels no shame in having CF, she wishes others wouldn’t see it as a weakness.
Here’s an excerpt, “None of us should make assumptions about others when we have no idea what their life stories are. Looks are deceiving and don’t say anything about character, abilities, or value. The most important qualities a person possesses go far beyond their physical appearance.”

My big takeaway (and I agree with Lara) that our value isn’t in what hinders us, but rather where our strengths are. We are not just our disease. We are more than cystic fibrosis, even if it is a large part of our life.
