Last week I wrote quickly about playlists for surgery or hospital visits (songs that lift our spirits or connect back to a major memory), but I also said I’d share a bit about creating a score for a dance performance.

Since I’m Artistic Director of a dance company (when we aren’t on pause from COVID), I create full plot-lines and playlists to full-length shows, and I’m so obsessed that I have the next 4 or 5 planned already.

We have a show that was meant to take the stage right before corona-virus shut us down, and it takes place completely in a hospital. I figured that sharing some of the most poignant songs from this topical playlist might resonate with some of you, since we are both amid a global health crisis, and dealing with our own internal ones, as well.

Here are some of my Favorite Songs for Healing (and Feeling) below:

    1. “I Went To The Hospital” by Cass McCombs

    2. “Broken People” by Logic, Rag n’ Bone Man

    3. “Jump Rope” by Blue October

    4. “My Body Was Made” by Ezra Furman

    5. “What Sarah Said” by Death Cab for Cutie

    6. “Heal” by Tom Odell

    7. “Wherever Is Your Heart” by Brandi Carlile

Now, my Question For You: What song is almost always guaranteed to make you cry?
