Shoutout to Joyfully Breathing, A CFer’s Joyous Journey Through Life.

At eleven months old, and after many hospital stays, Joyfully Breathing was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Her doctor gave her a life expectancy of 18 years, if that. Her parents were told she would never be a “normal” child and she would never live a “normal” life.

What the doctor did not expect was for Joyfully Breathing to be a fighter every day, for the rest of her life. And so began her joyous journey as a CFer: never taking anything for granted, breathing even when it hurt, and loving every second of life.

Joyfully Breathing graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nutritional sciences and dietetics as well as a minor in restaurant, hotel and institutional management. Her dream job is to work with other cystic fibrosis patients as a registered dietitian nutritionist and help them gain weight so that they can live longer, healthier lives.

Of course, l’histoire se répète. Doctors are no god’s, they can’t predict the future and certainly not a life expectancy. And most of all not in a so diverse illness like CF.

Joyfully Breathing is yet another shining example of this.
