Claire’s Place Foundation is throwing an inaugural fundraising ball June 29 to celebrate the life and legacy of the foundation’s late founder, Claire Wineland, who had cystic fibrosis (CF).

Called the Clairity Ball, the event will be held at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica, California. It will feature a variety of entertainment with the ultimate goal of raising funds to provide help and support to those affected by CF.

“My daughter Claire’s one wish was for us to carry on the mission of her foundation. Until there’s a cure, there’s Claire’s Place,” Melissa Yeager, executive director of Claire’s Place Foundation, said in a press release. “She would be absolutely thrilled and impressed to know we are hosting our first Clairity Ball to raise needed funds to help hundreds of more families living with cystic fibrosis.”

Claire Wineland was an inspirational public speaker, social media star, author, and activist who had her share of long hospital visits due to her disease.

A Facebook page that was created to keep friends and fans, including many CF patients, updated on Wineland’s status during a 17-day stay in intensive care paved the way to the foundation’s creation.

“On June 29th we will celebrate Claire’s light and life, as well as the remarkable individuals and organizations that are moving her mission forward,” Yeager said. “Claire worked tirelessly to start her foundation, nurture it and grow it.”

Those participating in this evening event by the sea will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails as well as a plated dinner. There will be celebrity guests and performances throughout the evening. Some Broadway magic will make the event brighter, with Amanda Jane Cooper performing Claire’s favorite song “For Good” — from the hit Broadway musical “Wicked.”

Auctions items will also be up for grabs, including a walk-on role in an upcoming Adam Sandler film and two tickets and backstage passes for the comedian’s stand-up show.

“[Claire] encouraged and inspired all of us to live a life we are proud of. We plan to do that at the Clairity Ball and beyond,” Yeager said.

One of the main features of the event will be awards given to longtime supporters of Wineland and Claire’s Place Foundation for their outstanding dedication to her legacy and supporting families affected by CF.

Honorees include:

  • Justin Baldoni for his work on raising global awareness for CF with his debut as a director in “Five Feet Apart,” a film inspired by Claire.
  • Zappos for Good for their continued support not only to Claire personally, but also through Claire’s Place Hospital Playrooms and other projects.
  • Vertex Pharmaceuticals for its research advances in CF treatment and support provided to the CF community.
  • Cole and Sanja Hatter of THRIVE: Make Money Matter for their fundraising efforts for Claire’s Place since 2016.
