In this video from Great Big Story, 19-year-old Claire Wineland from Santa Monica, California introduces herself and her condition to the world. Claire often posts videos on YouTube on her Clairity Project channel to explain cystic fibrosis, as well as using it as a platform to celebrate life and encourage others to do the same.

When she was just a baby, Claire’s family was told that she would probably only live until she was 10 years old but over time, her life expectancy was lengthened to 18 and then to mid-20s. At 19, she bravely faces her mortality head on and uses it as a driver to get the most out of life. Her videos cover various aspects of living with a chronic condition and she doesn’t shy away from tackling difficult subjects. Despite having a terminal illness, her videos are incredibly positive, embracing life with cystic fibrosis and hoping that other CFers can do the same.
